Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the NFL.
The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Instagram
The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.
Official Complaints Currently Not on File
No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.
On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
