Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest Far Cry instalment that players experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for celebrating action and mayhem with similar excitement, all while weaving engaging, socially charged tales. Little surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two creators whose creations have represented all of those things.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game series, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also follow the video games' structure by having a fresh setting and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for trusting us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Being able to collaborate alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX partners always encourages me with their steady belief and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” noted Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the nature of society through this complex and turbulent lens, is a dream come true. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our common bold, daring sensibility to the television.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
