Nearly 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland found themselves without power on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, producing wind gusts hitting 109km/h.
Substantial Hailstones and Widespread Impact
Residents observed substantial frozen pellets as large as seven centimeters in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Rescue organizations received over five hundred requests for assistance across the area, primarily for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
Tomorrow was predicted as the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential expected across various areas of both regions.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
