The British player made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slams during the season.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her remaining competitions in 2025 as a result of a medical condition she has been battling for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in events in Asia but has decided to fly home to recover before starting next year's training.

These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together in 2026.

The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match against Ann Li in the Wuhan tournament and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the third set in the match with Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has been a concern at times this year.

Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 for the first time for the first time since 2022, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

Raducanu won 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way then falling in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey as coach from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with planned training sessions in the coming months.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
